Re: Sak's back?
Sakho has shown himself to be one of the best players in the league (which I guess means Europe) at leading the line, running the channels and making space for the creative players behind him. He was the missing piece in the jigsaw in the our final season at Upton Park and if he was fit, we would have got the extra few points needed for Champions League football.

He is probably the best all round centre forward we've had at the club since Kanoute. Not a great deal of competition, but the fact remains that in 15 years, there are not many I would start in front of him. If he was fit to start on Sunday, in my mind he starts in front of Hernandez. Obviously this can & probably will change once we see Hernandez start, but if Bilic persists with the lone front man, I don't see Hernandez as a player who will run his nuts off and create space for others, he is a goalscorer, for him to reach his potential Bilic will need to tweak his tactics.

Sakho is the best striker at the club?

Blimey.

Re: Sak's back?
Limiting the playing time for players returning from injury is standard practice in professional football and has been for decades.

You're reading it wrong. Not any great surprise really.

I bet he'll break again... I back Sak to crack.

Re: Sak's back?
With Sakho I'm almost reading into this played a hour and got another knock or bad reaction. Hence a set back for a month or so. That seems the only logic conclusion. So more bollocks from the owners.

I guess Bilic thinks he can put Arno more central in support for Hernandez with Snodgrass playing the wide left role. There is also Ayew who can play up front with him.

However I think it's mistake/risk not having a proper centre forward back up to start the season.

Re: Sak's back?
Exile - agreed
A fully fit Sakho is still the best striker at the club for the way we play

Fully fit is the rub of course, then if he is, he will be off given his contract but heyho, I for one will be grateful to see the bloke fit and firing for a season

Re: Sak's back?
as pointed out already - if he can play an hour in an u23 match and he doesn't pick up a new injury he should be match fit for the bench in a couple of weeks

Re: Sak's back?
Miserable buggers. For me this is a bit of good news. Yes, I know it could all go tits-up but a fit Diafra Sakho would be great to see, so I'll allow myself a bit of optimism.

All this statement says to me is we won't be getting any back up for Hernandez.

This pair of trotters will never learn.

Exactly my point...

Swiss. 5:29 Mon Aug 7
Re: Sak's back?
If he can play an hour couple of days ago for the U23's then why can't he play 10 mins say from the subs bench at Old Trafford FFS ?

Willtell 5:26 Mon Aug 7
Re: Sak's back?
Sakho played for an hour couple of days ago for the U23's Swiss. From 4th or 5th August to September 11 is more than 6 whole weeks. That's how fit he is.

Great to see him on his way back but he cannot be that fit to be 6 weeks away from sitting on the bench on September 11th against Huddersfield as the article says....

Re: Sak's back?
Feck me no wonder decent posters leave this site !!!!!

We should all be hoping that all of our squad will be fit and raring to go and support West Ham !!!!!

Have a moan by all means once the season starts if you're not happy for any reason but FFS give it a rest before it's kicks off.

well he obviously isn't fit if we have to wait another month.

Re: Sak's back?
Sakho has missed more games than Carroll in the time they have been at the club together

Jasnik 5:03 Mon Aug 7
Re: Sak's back?
Only Carroll is a bigger crock. So I'd be surprised if he lasted 45 mins this season

Sniper 4:56 Mon Aug 7
Re: Sak's back?
Is this 'we don't need to sign a striker' bumkshut ir 'look West Brom he's fit his time - please sign him' bullshit?

I know you need to be pretty damn fit to play, but how unfit can he be that it takes over a month from now? It's like when we resigned Carlton and it took him bloody ages to get match fit when he'd only been contractless for a couple of months! What do these players get up to?

Lertie Button 4:24 Mon Aug 7
Re: Sak's back?
Moan?
Considering how little Carroll and Sakho have contributed over the past couple of seasons and their salaries, we have shown great restraint in not having concrete slabs dropped on their legs.

If they make a dozen appearances between them this season (including subs) I'll be amazed

chedylan 2 4:18 Mon Aug 7
Re: Sak's back?
What a pile of propaganda bullshit this is.

he should be OK to play a fucking MONTH after the start of the season?

Not good enough you tight arsed clowns. We all know it wont last and he'll be back out for months

Eggbert

Maybe they needed a board whose ambitions exceeded transferring 4 players out and replacing them with no-one?
